Blue Yodel No. 2 WEEK 3

     Blue Yodel No. 2 by Jimmie Rodgers is a fairly happy and calming sounding song but in the lyrics is quite a sad story. In the song, it talks about the story of a man who says he is about to lose the woman he loves. He says that he is going to lose her because he doesn't like her ways because they ended up getting him in trouble and thrown in jail. He then talks about how when she wakes up she won't being seeing him because he'll be gone in jail.     Just listening to the song while not paying any attention to the lyrics, it sounds like a classic old folk song: simple chords, repeating lyrics and a song that most people can enjoy. It makes me think of a lowly man on the street with his guitar just singing and playing about whatever comes to his mind. When I put effort into listening to the lyrics, I hear the emotion in his voice about how he is feeling. He is not all that sad about losing the woman because of what she has gotten him into. Ain't Misbehavin' WEEK 2

                          Ain't Misbehavin' By: Thomas "Fats" Waller is a song  about a man who is in love with a woman so he is done "misbehaving" (seeing other women or flirting with other women) because he says he is saving his love for this woman he is in love with. The quick beat and snappy drums give the song a sense of happiness and excitement that you could dance around to. The drum solo at the end gives the song a feel of what kind of emotion that the singer may be feeling which is of wanting to express his emotions for this woman and the happiness she brings him.                              The drum solo in the song definitely surprised me, I thought the song was going to stay at a similar beat and tune but the drum solo completely changed the pace and gave the song a whole new feeling.
