Thrift Shop WEEK 12

                Thrift Shop by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis is iconic. Whether you listen to it all the time or just occasionally just about everybody in our generation has heard at one time or another. It can be listened to as a song to just jam out to or it can be used as a hype up song. Macklemore's crafty lyrics make it catchy and unique while the production and specific use of instruments give it a completely unique sound. This was at the peak of Macklemore's career and this has got to be one of his best. The 4 minute song does not sound repetitive at all and each listen is an experience.     The genius of featuring Wanz in this song is perfect. His deep and unique voice gives it a 90's rap type of feel and completes the whole thing. The lyrics of the song is what sets the song apart the most in my opinion. Smells Like Teen Spirit WEEK 11

      Smells Like Teen Spirit is one of the most iconic rock songs of all time. Even if you didn't know the song by name, you know the song for what it sounds like. Maybe it doesn't play on the radio as much anymore unless you're on the right station but it still can be heard many places. It starts out with a decently long intro that hooks you in with it's simple but catchy riff and then gets you head banging to it 30 seconds. One of the things that makes this song so popular and iconic is that it is so simple but so strong and powerful sounding. It's hard rock sound can make anyone wanna jump around and head bang to it.     What the song also does well is sounding like the style of song it's supposed to without sounding exactly like all the other 2000's rock sounds.
