Thrift Shop WEEK 12

     

        Thrift Shop by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis is iconic. Whether you listen to it all the time or just occasionally just about everybody in our generation has heard at one time or another. It can be listened to as a song to just jam out to or it can be used as a hype up song. Macklemore's crafty lyrics make it catchy and unique while the production and specific use of instruments give it a completely unique sound. This was at the peak of Macklemore's career and this has got to be one of his best. The 4 minute song does not sound repetitive at all and each listen is an experience.

    The genius of featuring Wanz in this song is perfect. His deep and unique voice gives it a 90's rap type of feel and completes the whole thing. The lyrics of the song is what sets the song apart the most in my opinion. It is such an odd topic to sing about and it is used in a way that captivates the audience rather than turning them away. Overall I think this song is one of the best songs of 2010's and encapsulates the feel of what songs in that era should of sounded like.
