In the Mood WEEK 4
Glenn Miller's In the Mood is one of the most iconic dance songs ever. Whether you've heard it at a dance, movie, play or on the radio, most people know the song or have at least heard it. It's not too complicated of a song, it's has a simple melody and drums that repeat the whole time but it's the trumpets that come in and change, and really even make, the whole song.
The song is the perfect tempo for swing dancing and not too short. You can't feel sad when you hear a song like this, the occasional solos and the upbeat tempo constantly keep you engaged. The song is simple enough that most people can hear the changes and understand what is going on with the instruments. The song also has the repeating melody that is practically unforgettable. That simple riff can be recognized by almost anybody and has certainly become iconic. What separates this song from the rest of this genre of music is the simplicity of it and how catchy the song is. After one listen the melody of it is instantly stuck in your mind and you can't and won't get it out of your head until you have another listen. It constantly brings you back and it's something you could play on repeat and dance to all night long.
I love the title of this song too. "In the mood" really does get you in a good mood. I can see what you mean that no one can be sad while listening to it. Songs like that are the best because it means everyone listening or dancing to it are most likely smiling and enjoying themselves!!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree when I hear this song it just gives off such good vibes and puts a big smile on my face. It made me want to get up and dance. I can see this song being the type that starts playing and everyone knows it and dances to it.
